Gallagher '01 killed in Arizona crash
Bloomsburg University alumnus Michael V. Gallagher '01 was killed in a vehicle crash on Sept. 2. He was on duty with the U.S. Border Patrol in Arizona at the time of his death. The BU Alumni Association mourns the tragic death of one of our alumni and extends its heartfelt condolences to his family.

Webb '03 earns doctorate in geography
Jennifer J. Webb graduated recently with a Ph.D. in geography from the University of South Carolina. A native of Danville, she received a bachleor's degree in geography from Bloomsburg University in 2003 and a master's in geography from Binghamton University in 2006.

Rutecki '75 made a difference
The Association of Government Accountants (AGA) Virginia Peninsula chapter selected Joe Rutecki '75 as its member "Who Made a Difference" in the last decade! An article on Joe's contributions were profiled in the recent Fall 2010 special anniversary issue of AGA's Journal of Government Financial Management. He's been a member of AGA for over 25 years and will be retiring from the Government Accountability Office in December 2010 after over 35 years of service.

$10-million Sutliff Hall construction project underway
Construction on Sutliff Hall has begun. The $10-million project includes the addition of a third floor and a “bumpout” addition to the quad side of the building. The completion date is August 2011.

Alum advances in country talent competition
Marla Kane '99 won a local radio talent competition and will now perform in Hershey on Sept. 11 for a chance to win a trip to Nashville and $100,000.

Bill Byham '53 was one of three Williamsport radio announcers honored with the W. Howard Hartman Little League Friendship Award recently.

Brian Bingaman '03, a former Huskies football player, has been named strength and conditioning coach at Saint Joseph's University.

Synoracki '87 promoted by RETTEW
Daniel P. Synoracki '87, Lancaster, has been promoted to an environmental sciences group manager by RETTEW, a top U.S. design firm with offices in Pennsylvania and New York. He has more than 23 years experience in project management and environmental consulting. He is a founding member of the Little Conestoga Watershed Alliance and also a member of the Paradise Sportsman's Association. He graduated from Bloomsburg with degrees in biology and environmental planning.
