HuskyShadows - FAQ

 The HuskyShadows Program is an unpaid, multi-day 20-40 hour job shadowing program that allows you to learn about a career field by observing and working alongside current professionals. It is an ideal way to explore academic and career options, develop your network, and improve professional communication skills.

To get started, follow these steps:

1. Attend an information session and
complete the online application.

2. Search Career Connect for job shadow

3. Schedule your job shadow experience
and complete the match form.

4. Share the host evaluation and host
links with your host.

5. Complete your job shadowing experience.

6. Submit your student survey along with a
copy of your thank you note and email with a
photo to: 


1. Am I eligible?
A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for participation in the HuskyShadows Program; however a 2.5 GPA is preferred.

2. Will I be placed in a job shadowing opportunity?
After completing a series of pre-work steps through the HuskyShadows BOLT course, you will be added to an online community made up of BU students and professionals who have expressed an interest in hosting BU students for an experience. It is your responsibility to locate a host through this group, or your own network.

3. How can I find a host?

a. Through the HuskyShadows LinkedIn Group
b. Reaching out to friends and family members who have contacts in companies where you would like to shadow
c. Search Husky Career Link for organizations who are recruiting BU students for jobs and internships

4. What will this cost me?
There is no tuition cost associated with this program. Depending on the location of your host, you may have expenses to travel to and from the work-site.

5. What do I need to do to be enrolled in the program?

After you complete the interest form, you will be added to the HuskyShadows BOLT course. In that course, you will find instructions on how you can progress through the program.

6. What will be expected of me?

Like any other professional experience, you will be expected to be on time, dress appropriately for the workplace, and complete the paperwork required for the HuskyShadows program. Upon completion of your experience, you need to complete the student survey and ask your host to complete an evaluation and survey. Links to these forms can be found on this page and in the various materials in the BOLT course.

7. Will I get credit on my transcript?
The HuskyShadows program is not for academic credit. However, upon successful completion of all steps, you will receive a notation of completion on your academic transcript verifying your participation.
